Awareness Celebration at work today.
There were singing, dancing, skits, and Egyptian cuisine. So kewl!
Skits were tinged with humor, and I loved all the different galabeyas worn.
Live music brought high energy and nonstop hand clapping!
Whirling Dervish dancers spun like colorful spinning tops.
Crowds clapped and sang happily along.
Plentiful Egyptian cuisine was served to hearty appetites.
Musicians accompanied the rider and prancing horse below.
Dancers wielded bamboo sticks with precision and skill.
Even I jumped on the henna tattoo band wagon and got one above my ankle. Henna tattoos are not permanent and begin to fade after 2 weeks. In the meantime, I'll be sporting this cute butterfly!
Overall, the celebration was a big success! I learned so much about Egypt's culture and history, and an astounding good time was had by all.
